This Easter (April 4), will be more significant this year than in a generation. In the wake of 2 million deaths from a global pandemic, a polarized political nightmare that won’t stop, and deep unrest, injustice and pain across racial lines, it is time to engage the Lord at a new level – a deeper level.
We live in a farming community. We understand that in order to have a harvest, we must first sow the seed. Right now is the perfect time to AWAKEN… to begin “sowing for an AWAKENING.” We know in our hearts that all around us, we see fear, polarization, unrest, injustice and pain that only God can truly counter with faith, unity, peace, justice and healing. All we need to do is to humbly sow for an AWAKENING by praying, seeking, and loving one another.” So, let’s affirm where God is leading us as we look at the ancient text from the prophet Joel: “AWAKE and return to the Lord your God, for God is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and God relents from sending calamity.”
2 Chronicles 7:14-15: …Be AWAKE to this . . .
“If my people, my God-defined people, respond by humbling themselves, praying, seeking my presence, and turning their backs on their wicked lives, I’ll be there ready for you: I’ll listen from heaven, forgive their sins, and restore their land to health.”
Rather than “grumbling” about the state of world, God calls us to “humble” ourselves. That means that we are to put God back in control of our life. And as we do, we can see a change in us… in our church (the church is the people)…our community and our world. Thy Kingdom Come.
Join me – every morning in March – in this prayer:
-
- Today I sow for a great awakening.
- Today I stake everything on the promise of the Word of God.
- Today I depend entirely on the power of the Holy Spirit.
- Today I have the same mind in me that was in Christ Jesus, because Jesus is good news and Jesus is in me, I am Good News . . . As a BELIEVER & DISCIPLE, I will share it in my actions and words in the moment and to all who I encounter today.
- Today, I will sow the extravagance of the gospel everywhere I go and with everyone I meet.
- Today, I will love others as Jesus loved me.
- Today, I will remember that the tiniest seeds become the tallest trees; that the seeds of today become the shade of tomorrow, that the faith of right now becomes the future of the everlasting kingdom.
- Today I sow for a great awakening.
“When you will call, the Lord will answer and say:
Here am I.”
(Isaiah 58:9)
