This is an exciting time for our congregation to be moving forward with GODLY HOPE! We rejoice that our God is a God of hope, “filling us with all joy and peace in believing… by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13), as we proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
Isaiah 43:19 – “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” For the past several months, a group of people have been prioritizing the time to meet together to look at our church. We have also learned from other churches that have closed in order to understand what we can do differently NOW and re-connect “what we do” with “what God challenges us to do.” What we discovered in all of this is that in order to be a “Scrappy Church” it will mean some “Godly Changes.”
Now, some think that “change” is bad. It can be. But, we are talking about “Godly Changes!” Jesus and God came to introduce “Godly Change” as a POSITIVE. The Good News is that we are now moving from talking about it to putting “God Events and Godly Changes” into place to signal that we see God doing a “New Thing!” What does the Bible say about Godly Change and how can it inspire us in times of change? There always seems to be a guarantee in life that change will happen. Godly Change is something we tend to fear and become anxious about because we do not feel in control of life. The good news is that God has a plan for your life that includes hope, future, and prosperity. We need to learn to trust in God and allow the Godly Changes to grow us to be more like Jesus Christ.
We are promised that all things will work together for good for those who love Him and keep His commandments! God is walking this life journey with you – His presence is always with you, guiding you. Deuteronomy 31:6 – “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Joshua 1:9 – “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” So, what are some of the “Godly Changes?” Earlier this week, I announced some new “Godly Changes” to our worship, Did you read it? Are you praying for the Pastor and the changes he is implementing? What “Godly Changes” are you making? They include:
